I really wanted to get Ricky something special for him to keep forever to remember this day. So besides the Precious Moments boy's 1st communion, I found this wonderful picture with Isaiah 40:31 printed on it --But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as eagles; They shall run and not be weary and they shall walk and not grow faint. This has been our theme throughout this journey with Ricky and we knew he would walk again. On Eagle's Wings is one of our favorite songs. This bible verse was a favorite of Glenn Cunningham- an Olympic Runner who was burned in a fire at age 8 (his brother died) where no muscles were left on his legs- and didn't walk again until age 10- then went on to run and win the Gold.

Many parents came up to me and said they were so teary-eyed when Ricky walked up there to receive communion-more for Ricky than their own child. I was crying, too because we have come a long way from last year and Ricky is so close to God. Wow-look how handsome and grownup he looks!
